Our school is in Folkestone where the White Cliffs stand. We are lucky to live in Folkestone because it is on the South East Coast. Earlier this term, on a hot September's day our two year four classes walked down to the Warren. The cliffs on the Warren are made out of chalk and are white. Did you know that chalk was made from millions of tiny sea creatures that lived thousands of years ago and used to be under the sea. More

People were waiting for Hurricane Isabel to come for a long time. The weathermen kept talking about it. No one knew where it would land. If it came to the beaches in Ocean City, there would be problems where I live. It didn't, however, it hit North Carolina, but we did feel some of it. More

What a tragedy Hurricane Isabel was! Isabel was tracked by the United States National Weather Service with winds of 165 mph. Fortunately by the time Isabel hit land, it only had winds of 120 MPH. Wow!

It was a Category 5 at first, and then a Category 3 when it hit in North Carolina More

The Røvær Disaster - Røværulykken
Røvær Skole, Røvær Norway
On Friday the 13th of October 1899 a tragic disaster happened. It made Røvær known all over Norway. On the way back from a funeral on the mainland, a sailing vessel from Røvær was surprised by a storm. It went down and all the 30 passengers drowned. Most of them were grownup men.

12 widows and 36 fatherless children under the age of 14 were left behind. In almost every house people had lost one or more relatives. However, Røvær rose once more, and the accident created solidarity and thoughtfulness among people, something which is still strong and living on this island. A few years later, Røvær got it´s own burial place.

Hi my name is Kate and I am a Coho Salmon. I am swimming upstream along the coast of British Columbia to go back to my home. The last couple of years when I have been going upstream the water has been a bit polluted. This year so far it has been very very polluted. I don't know what is wrong with the water! Who could do such a thing? None of the other slamons could do this. Oh! It must have been the humans!!
